Counter Space Matters
2. Counter Space Matters
Counter space, say designers, is the most sought after
kitchen feature. Ask anyone what they can do with more of in the
kitchen, and it will always be counter space.
Ideally, you need at least two counter space areas. One for
preparation, and one for serving. Plan for at least forty four
sq. ft. of counter space, including the sink and cook surface.
This will avoid the juggling act of always moving things. The
recommended minimum depth is 25 inches if you do a lot of
cooking or use bulky stock. This width will accommodate big pots
and also house or cover the dishwasher so it installs flush with
the cabinet doors.
